Is this the "shock-looking" thing in front of the front axle? Is it also known as a steering stabilizer? Is this just a regular shock?

Yup - that "shock looking thing" is your steering stabilizer. What makes you ask?

Nope .........it's not a shock at all. A normal shock will resist pressure from one direction, whereas a steering stabilizer maintains pressure from either direction. Look at it this way- if you used a shock it would be alot harder to turn the wheels one than the other way, right?

    I hope that makes sense./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Well, like a blown out shock, mine is covered in oil. It's not engine oil or tranny fluid or power steering fluid or brake fluid, or coolant. It appears to be leaking and I was going to replace it but I wasn't sure what it was called. Thanks for all the help.

You can check out www.rockymountainsusp.com . They sell the TrailMaster coil over stabilizers for something like $80 with shipping. I think the PN is 57201... /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
