Steve, can your turn this off?

Discussion in '1973-1991 K5 Blazer | Truck | Suburban' started by **DONOTDELETE**, Aug 3, 2001.

I dont like how the forums bumps you down to the bottom of a post. Is there a way to turn this off. I often find myself scrolling back up anyway to read stuff I have missed.

I happen to like that feature so if its elimination is being considered, it seems only right to ask the rest of the membership.

  2. Well, I was wondering if we could individually turn this off like the preview your post button we already have.

I like the feature, I just don't think mine works right. I also have to scroll back to read the posts. On multi-page posts it alwas goes to the last page whether I have read them or not.

It does that so you don't have to re-read old posts, but in multipage posts. Instead of clicking on the post topic, you can hit page 1 and start at the beginning or hit all, scroll quickly to the top and then read all the post in order without having to hit next, to get to the next page. Not sure if this is what you are looking for, just thought I would throw it out just in case.

If you didn't build it yourself, how can you call it yours.......?

It doesnt work right for me either. If I read the thread or not it goes to the bottom so I find myself constantly scrolling up.

Mine skips to the very last post added... so if I have yet to read the others I have scroll back up or go back the to previous page. Not a huge deal, but it is sort of annoying and I'd rather not have this feature...

If you go to your user preference screen I believe you have selected "Default sort order" preference of "Ascending date". You need to show as "Decending date". That will start you with oldest post first. Ascending date will drop you to the newest post.

Like Steve needs anymore work or grief from this site...
Well I kinda hate it too. I don't always read a post when it first appears and I hate having to scroll up. I also have the preference set for decending...

    I find its annoying...

I too have decending date selected, and everytime I open a thread, even if I have never opened it before, it goes to the most recent post at the end. I have to scroll up everytime I open a thread. It is definitely a PITA.

I think it might be the thread view setting ..show threads active in the last day.......near the top of the thread list.....it just pops you to the most active part of the thread.
