Does anyone know what the stock gear ratio should be in my 1970 K5? Was there a stock ratio, or was it by choice? I am trying to buy a 14 bolt FF from Brian, and am trying to decide if 4.56 gears are too low for my stock TH 350 tranny? I don't want to top out at 45 mph. Thanks.

    Matt.

The '70 will have 3.73s if it was a 6 cyl., or a 307. If it was a 350 it will have 3.07s, unless the lower gears were special ordered.

for the most part the stock gear ratio is 3.73 for a manual trannie and 3.07 for an automatic. I noticed in my options book that you could order 4.11 gears but this is a rare option.

As I stated above, the stock gear ratio was determined by the motor, not the tranny.
