Ok, I don't have the $$ to lay down for a nice swing away rear tire carrier right now. so i'm looking for a stock rear tire carrier. i know you have to drill and they're not as strong but i need to get the damn spare out of the bed before deer season! would i have any probs. mounting one onto an '86? is it difficult or just line up, drill, bolt? and last, anyone got one? :-)
    thanks,

I have one. It was installed back in 1983 or somewhere that time. It held up pretty well until a few years ago when it cracked the quarter panel. I had to install a plate inside so it would hold stronger. Now after many more years of holding a 70-80lb tire, the tailgate has developed a small crack. I don't complaint since it's been there so many years. I'll probably won't have any more problems after reinforcing the tailgate.

If you install one and reinforce it from the beginning, you should be OK.

Check out my page for more info about this carrier.

My cost about 3 bucks worth of rods and a couple of discs for the rightangle grinder, around a case of Beer and a butt load of labor (mine and free)[IMG]
