The condition was really just bizarre. Looks like he was living in it. How much prepackaged Ham and cheap Mexican beer does one man need....and that smell!!!??? The ignition is wrecked and the inside is pretty beat up and scanky, but all in all I'm happy. No major body damage and The engine is fine...The police are going to take care of the clean up...they seem to be especially interested in the CRACK PIPE I found in the center console.....really, I just feel very VERY lucky to have it all back in one piece..and thanks again to everybody....and yes, from now on i think i'll be walking around with the coil wire in my pocket......

Great idea with the coil wire! I have done that with my older cars for years if I didn't like the area I was in.

Make sure all of the drug goodies are out before you start driving it around. You have already prooved you have bad luck, now you don't need to be stopped for mudding in some farmers field and get searched to have a cop find something that was missed.

You can buy a battery cutoff-switch from any auto parts store. There are all different kinds. You can also make your own.

Here's a cool little trick that I think is funnier than the battery cutout. HEI ingnitions just need one wire to work, a big fat red one. Not sure on your '72 (if it still has points) but on my '81 and '82 w/HEI the wire goes into the firewall and into the fuseblock. What you do is get a heavy-duty toggle switch and wire into the power line for your distributor. Make sure to hide it well. They can break in, bust your column up but they ain't getting anywhere. Its kinda funny to see some a$$hole sitting there cranking over a truck for obscenely long time while all the while the window is busted out and there's glass on the ground. Shouldn't take long to raise suspison.

I'm going to finally break down and buy one of these suckers... Auto Taser.... some people have said I might get sued by a thief who runs in with it. I say go for it sue me... they'd have to admit their crime to get to me and I could go wild and sue them back for a few things... [IMG]

When I go off to school my truck is coming with me, so I'm definitly not going to have it stolen, I was thinking of doing both, the electri fuel pump cut off(TBI) and Ignition cut off, so if anyone has done either, can you explain and tell us how. Thanks.

Like Blazer boy said before. Find the power wire to your HEI distributor and run a toggle switch. My truck has this. I had a friend with a Heep that had a panel of toggle switches (7) that had to be in a certain order to start the truck. Some had to be up and some had to be down. They were in plan sight, but only he knew the order they had to be in.
