I have a stupid electric fan question. If the fan is originally a puller, what do you do to make it a pusher? Reverse the leads right? I think it is this simple but I can't remember. I need one for my other ride and most junkyards only carry pullers and I need a pusher (auxiliary).

Most fans will allow you to simply reverse the leads... but for a junkyard fan, one that has ran in the other direction all its life... might not be too excited about running the other way for the rest of its life.

Also, look for a fan with straight blades, that will be a fan that will reverse a little more gracefully than one with blades that swoop away from its intended rotation.

I've also heard that some just don't like to run backwards. Also heard that 3rd gen Camaros are great junkyard fans. I think I'm going to put one on my tranny cooler.

If it is an aftermarket fan you flip the fan blade over.

Ahhhhh.... Awesome!! I've been wondering the same thing, and direction is the only thing that's stopped me from putting it in already. I have seven electric fans in my backyard from a repair/upgrade I never made on my S10. And I just ran across an abandoned late model theft-recovery in a friends town, and "found" a really really nice pair of fans from it. Something more to do this weekend...

    Thanks for the solution Triaged!
