I ran dex-cool (it's red/dark orange) up til Friday when I pulled my 350 out. It's supposed to be a 5 year coolant. I read about some people having problems with it shortly after I put it in last year.

I'll be going back to the old reliable green stuff when the 6.2 goes in.

Dex-Cool is red last I knew all the new chevy's came with it, from my last talk with the service manager at the dealership you don't want it. He changed his out at 30k and flushed it and put the green in. After about 30k they were having problems with it gooing up and clogging up the system.

Is there a difference between the colors? Can you mix them together? The reason I ask is because my dad had some red in his '97 burb and threw in some green when it was getting low. The auto-shop told him that was a no-no. Anybody know why? Or is there really nothing to be concerned about at all?

You can't mix them.. It is like mixing oil and water..They won't mix.. The orange stuff sucks.. I tried it last year and it didn't last more then 30,000 miles on my company truck.. Then it took 2 flushes to get it all out.. Stay with the green..

i figured there would be some bad mojo involved.kinda just joking anyway. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gifhas anyone tied the additives that you add to the antifreeze that can take down the engines temp?i think it was called "red heat"or something like that.

When the red and green mix they will form a gel and I've heard it is very hard to get it out.
