is $700 a good deal on a 3/4 ton rear? Is it worth it or would a 1 ton be better?

Way too much. This could either be a 14SF or 14FF. Either way, too much!!! I would spend more than $250 or so for either of those from a junkyard...

PM thatK30guy, he can hook you up with a rebuilt rear axle for a good price!!!!

Way too much! You can get them around here for $150. You do not want a one ton rear unless you want to relocate the spring perches. The only advantage of a one ton rear is the brake pads are about an inch wider than the 3/4 ton.
