    Suburban from Dante\'s Peak Movie

I've been searching all around, and I cannot find a complete list of specs for the Suburban in Dante's Peak. Any of you guys have an idea of how it was configured?

I don't have too much familiarity with these vehicles, but the Suburban in that movie is very ... inspirational, to say the least. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

    Year?
    Tonnage?
    Chev/GMC? (didn't notice)
    Lift Height?
    Rim Size?
    Tire Size?
    Suspension Manufacturer?

The only things I did identify were the Safari Snorkel (who can miss it), Confer Rack, and Goodyear MT meat. I was just watching it on cable, so I couldn't very well pause, but we're due to own that movie anyway. I really dig it. Every time I see the movie, I want to find out more about that truck, and I always forget.

Don't have enough in my wad to take on a project like that, but I would in a heartbeat. Thanks!

It looked like a 1/2 ton burb with a 6" lift and 35's...beyond that your guess is as good as mine. I'd assume the rims are 15 x 10 though.

We do own the movie... /forums/images/icons/cool.gif and what kills me is the destruction of a perfectly good K30 later on. Never seen 'lava wheeling' before /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif The 'burb gets it too which kinda sucks because i liked it too.

I don't think anyone makes one specifically for it. I believe reading that one off a FJ 40 or something like that would work w/some modifications. There was a post either in here or the garage not long ago about this. If you do a search i'm sure you could find more info.

I saw it at Universal Studios in May... my friend took pics of it. I'll ask her to see if she can find them. I know her kids recently helped "organize" the pictures so it might be a while.. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

The ARB rep says the snorkel is probably a toyota FJ80 model. Try this link: http://www.safari4x4.com.au/docs/snorkel/ss81.htm
I think the cheapest I've seen it is in Manafre catalog, but it's been a while since I've looked.
    See what you think

Re: Suburban from Dante\'s Peak Movie

I saw that movie last night and I was guessing a 4 inch lift, stock rims, 35 inch tires. The snorkel is an ARB safari and somebody here had even posted the part number from ARB that would work. Maybe do a search and find it.

What all is involved in making a truck able to drive in water like that? I know you cant just pop on a snorkel and go for it.
