A few things I saw or found out today .

    1. An actual person right in front of me , laid his rig on its side and wheeled out of it .................. with thousands of dollars LESS than the coiloverboyz we see in the mags . Flatfenders with simple mods and Chevy sm465's rock

    2. Fred and Matt run Collateral Damage , and climb the tough fall at the tippy top with no need of the winch . 10 bucks says Amigos go back to this one before it gets "too hot" out :wink1:

    3. Steering stops on 10 bolts don't like Subs and rocks .

    4. Matt is the tire bead reseater king of the AZ .

    5. Allan can wheel open with a sm465 , and hang .

    6. I still haven't dented my doors or top yet .

    7. Tommy wants to wheel worse than we do :D

    8. Of course we all made it home , had fun , and the comraderie can't be beat .

Thanks for coming and bringing your friend Brian

Pics of the day ( including the stuff I saw being thrown away on the way home , sad sad sad ) are in my webshots now :D

Yes Great time had by all. Jamie loved it, and I had an awesome time as well. Thank you to everybody for sharing your seats, and shwing us a good time. Mad props to the AZ guys. Awesome group of people, and the rigs from mild to wild all wheeled together which is very cool. I hope someday I get to wheel with you guys in my own rig:D

    My carnage.

One flat out fubar 56" pack.

I rode home on the passenger bumpstop due to this. I guess I will carry a full pack instead of just a main leaf from now on.

5 leaf pack, 3 bottom leafs snapped, 2 top leafs bent.

Axle wrap while driving thru hard flop are the leading reasons, as is winching the truck down to fix the blown bead.

A traction bar is in my future.

Glad to see ya made it home with that still intact Matt. I was hoping that main leaf would hold for ya. That would make for an interesting ride:eek1: Do you know where you bent it at. I will be back in Cali on Thurs afternoon. I'll try to get some pics up on Fri.

I don't know if you can really call this trail carnage but on the way to the gas station to air back up the steering box decided it no longer wished to allow the driver (me) to make an easy and pleasant right turn.

    Left?

    Like a dream.

    Right?

    Not so much.

Nice pictures, Brian!! Just goes to show that even open diff trucks can do gnarly stuff. Might need a little help from time to time but we still made it through.

Oh, and you can add a toasted rear u-joint to our list of carnage from that weekend. Gave up this afternoon. Thought it was maybe a clutch prollem but nay. Was wondering what that squeaky, squeaky noise was.

partially because,,,when i was there as he was removing the broken u-joint, i just happened to notice, that the degree shims were installed backwards on the axle,,,basically lowering the pinion and making the pinion to driveshaft angle aliiiiittle too much IMO :p:

Thats what they are for if he IS NOT running a CV . The shackle flip pointed it up .

He has less wheelbase than your Suburban , the joints on both ends need to be close to the same angle . Shackle flip without a CV means tilt it BACK down .
