I thinking about swapping in a d44 and 12bolt from a '71 into my '84. Is this difficult swap or is it pretty much a straight forward bolt-in swap.

I don't think the spring perches line up from the first gen. blazers..there might be track width issues too. I would do the swap using 74-80 axles..my bud runs 39's with this combo and ain't broke yet! Should bolt right up, but keep in mind that 3/4 ton bolts right up , too. Just buy some 8 lug 15 inch rims from Summit and grind down your 1/2 ton calipers a bit-good luck

The front D44 would drop right in, The rear 12B is another story. The spring perches and the shock mounts will have to be moved to mount on your 84.

You might also want to verify the Dana 44 is one of the early versions with the little u-joints (Spicer 260-x joints versus the larger 297-x size joint).
