One of the mods on my rig will be a clip swap, but reverse of what most do. I happen to like the pre-1980 round light style. I assume that if you can go from a pre-80 clip to a post-80 clip, you can go the other way too. Am I correct in thinking that it is merely a matter of replacing the hood, inner and outer fenders, grille and rad support? Is there any chance I can get away with keeping the support? I will be doing this to an ex-army blazer, which will have the heavy-duty radiator, and I am not sure if the brackets will be the same or not. Any input would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Should be easier than the other way around. You will have to change the core support...unless you fab up something.....way too much work. I did just the opposite on my '74 and I can't think of anything major that would be a problem. A/C condensor maybe...my old one would not work with the new core....Army Blazers probably don't have A/C anyway...Anyone else??

Just curious, but why do you think going from new clip to old would be easier than old to new?

You can get all the information you need from the write upp by Neil Picket on the main page under tecnichal. That should get you a good basis for understanding each step towards a complete front clip swap.

First of all, are you talking just the Front grille or the whole clip??????? If you're talking the clip, Then your doors won't match from what I understand, You're in for a real big battle!

the door shells are the same from 76-91. some of the Inner pieces changed, but the doors will work.

When you go from early to late you have to cut holes in the firewall so your late model hinges will recess. When you go from late to early you won't have to do that....hence easier. Yout later style wiper posts might work or they might hit the hood...you'll just have to try it......they're not that tuff to swap out. I wouldn't do the change, but you probably wouldn't do some of the stuff I've done......ain't America great! Oh yeah...the doors make no difference at all.
