Hears the deal. I've got a Dana 44 sitting in the garage with 4.10, but the housing is rusted. I've got a Dana 44 in the truck with 3.73 in a good housing. I'd like to take the gears and carrier out of the rusted housing and install in the one in the truck. As long as the backlash and the pattern checks out fine, I should be OK, right?

Basically yes. There are four adjustments that need to be set. 1st is pinion height, 2nd is pinion bearing pre-load, 3rd is carrier bearing pre-load and finally 4th is backlash.
