I'm having transfer case problems (91 model with auto and np241c) and was wondering what my options are as far as swapping x-cases go. I wouldn't mind switching to 4 speed if that's not to pricey. What cases are compatiable with my trans, and has anybody priced x-cases in the junkyards? Thanks in advance for any help.

Prices are probably going to vary wherevery your at. I bought a 203 out of a junkyard here for $75.00. A friend of mine bought a 465 and 205 complete with clutch and everything the other day for $100.00. But I'm sure those prices are rare.

Didn't Ford also use like 11 diferent bell housings depending on what color the truck was and what day of the week it was?/forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif

How about the 43 different versions of D44 front?/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

and different motor mounts for every vehicle and every engine. I don't think anything interchanges on them.

so do motor mounts in pre sbc days interchange with vortec engines?
same thing with Fords, stuff from the 50s doesnt swap with modern designed stuff.
    no different then any manufacturer.
every SBF after ~1963 uses the same motor mount and bellhousing bolt pattern
there are 2 different "BBF" bellhousings, not hard to figure out, ancient FE stuff and everything else

the interchangeable chev thing is a complete myth I have discovered.

point being there are many ways to get to the same place but the straight up simple answer is get a matched set and sell yours as a matched set.
chev tranny output splines varied by what time of day it was made

I'm picking up a 4-speed manual transmission with NP-205 transfer case, and 3/4 ton axles for $500.00. I'll sell you the 4-speed manual transmission with NP-205 transfer case for $250.00 plus shipping. I really only want the axles. Parts came out of a 78 Chevy 3/4 ton truck. The tranny comes with the bellhousing, but not the clutch or pedal set up. Let me know if you're intrested.
