    Swapping VIN #\'s

Senerio: A friend has a 77 Burb 3/4 ton. Found a beat up 73 3/4 ton Burb with clean title. Can he just pull the VIN plates from the 73 and put them on his 77? Or does he need the 73 frame too?

If the vin plates are in the same place then I don't see why not ,But I think the vin plates are in 2 different places and they are different shapes too .. I think ,,but I could be wrong.....mike

EX. Mine for a 73 is on the door not the dash and the later ones are on the dash not the door...

You also have to match the style of rivets they used. And there's a vin# on the frame too.

Check your local CHP office they can tell you how to retitle a rebody. I think you need both titles to prove that you own both vehicles. As for the rosette rivets good luck factory item only. Vin#'s are in different places on the frame that match the original body & Title. I just went through a title error here in Ca. at CHP coming from Wa., they search the whole truck over just verify it wasn't retagged.
