Did a search and couldn't find anything on how the shifting goes for a 205 t-case. I have always run a 208 or 203 so I am at a lost triing to help a freind. It doesn't ever seem to disengage. And in the hi position it sounds like a motor is running. I am triing to figure out where 2hi would be. On the shifter it goes from front to rear like this. lo,lo lock.N,hi lock and hi. Can someone try and translate that into 4 hi 4lo and 2 hi for me. I tried all positions while triin to spin the front drive shaft. No luck. My buddy just baught this blazer from someone who did alot of mods himself And I am worried he may have modded something he shouldn't have. It's connected to a th350. Thanks for any and all help.

From the way you described the shift patern it's a 203. A 205 would just have 4lo, 4hi, 2hi and neutral (not sure of the patern though).

Could Be. But I can't remember how mine went. But a 203 would not disengage would it? I remember mine always stayed engeged. Maybe I have gotten things mixed up. What's new there. LOL.But that doesn't explain the motor sound unless his gear is messed up.

The 205 pattern from the front of the truck is:
    4LO
    N
    4HI
    2HI

The shift pattern you're describing is for a 203.
Being a fulltime case it would always be in 4 wd...the noise could be many things I guess. The 203 should operate quietly.

Does it have locking hubs insted of drive flanges? It could have been converted to part-time...
