ok, i had a 205 out of an 80 blazer. i swapped cases with a guy. i gave him the 80, he gave me a 205 that was mated to a 205. he said it was out of something pre73. the adapter from the 80 wont fit flush against the new case, its hitting the bearing. what to do ? anyone wanna trade adapters?

There are two types of 350/205 adaptors. The older ones, which you apparently have, use bearings inside them and no coupler sleeve. The newer ones, would have to check the years though, have just two seals and use the coupler sleeve to mate the two shafts together. The newer adaptor with the sleeves and coupler are the more desired pieces as the older ones are more scarce to find. Evidently, the guy you traded with knew what you had and what he had, and conned you into the swap.
