I just drove my Blazer for the first time in the snow today. It's great to pass all those cars going up hills! Anyway, when I bought it, I could shift from 2-High, 4-High, N and 4-Low. Now I can't get it to shift past 4-High. No neutral or 4-Low. It's OK for city driving, but I would like to have that 4-Low. What could be causing this?

    Thanks,
    Brian

Have you done anything like lockers or big tires? They can offer increased resisatance that can bind things up. Have you tried low speed shifting - app 5mph or less as you try to shift into low?

I do not know what kind of case you have but some kinds (I think the gear type) will form ridges around the moving areas preventing smooth shifts.

Run your rig in 4WD once in awhile to keep every thing free.

Sorry for the OT but your website made me miss my Monte SS. Stolen and burned. It was very trick - much like yours but I kept the 305. All Edelbrock intake and exhaust, Dart heads, on and on for the engine. 1" drop spindles and springs gave it a nice drop without ruining the functionality also.

    :(

You should never shift into low range while moving...nuetral or park and completely stopped, then shift to low range. Isn't there a detent in the 208 shifter for low range. I thought the handle needed to be pushed to one side or something...

    Rene,
Mine has the 'detent' and it is the 241.

Never shift while moving? Now that I have the locker it wont shift in and out of low unless it is PERFECTLY level. A little motion and it shifts smooth as buttah. Do you think something is wrong?

It's got 31" tires and stock differentials, so nothings been changed there. To drop it into neutral or 4-low you pull the shifter back and to the right, (like this __]-- if that makes sense), but I can't get it to budge past 4-high.

96C4and91K5, sorry to hear about your SS. That is one of my worst nightmares! I checked out the pic you have in your album and it was a very nice car. You've still got a K5 and a Vette, so that's not too shabby.
