    ok, here's the story:
aired out the k5 and busted the tranny and t-case on the crash down. Got a 205 & 203.
    1) what is involved in a 203 to 205 swap? Driveshaft issues? new crossmember? overall lenght problems?
    2) how can i tell if the 203 is part time?
    3) all this will go behind my TH350
as always, any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated![IMG]

    Doubler!!!!

You can tell if it's part time by putting it in each position, then turn the front driveshaft with the hubs unlocked. It should turn freely in 2 positions (neutral and 2wd)

Still Poundin' "pavment" after all these years!!! [IMG]

the 203 is still hooked to the 350 going in. any otherway to tell? or was that with the tranny hooked in?

  4. 1) you'll need a 350/205 adaptor. should be able to use your crossmember. not sure on the drivelines- should be real close.
    2) put the t case in high (not high lock) and with the hubs unlocked you should be able to turn the front driveshaft
    3) should work behind your th350 so long as your 205 will accept a 27spline input shaft.

If the front of your 203 is still good I would say do the doubler, especially if you have both the 205 and the 203. Just buy the adapter plate from ORD and the shifter. You will have to lengthen the front drive shaft, and maybe shorten the rear. But it is well worth it in my opinion. I will do this when my 208 takes a crap.

so i take it i can count the spline count?
also i think i should be more clear:
the th350 is hooked up to the 203. it is all on the floor of my garage. my truck is parked at a friends house. i would hate to get the new set-up in w/o a part time kit in it and have to rip it out again. this truck is my daily driver, so it being down is terrible. so i would like to hope there is a easy way to tell if it is P/T.

  7. you can swap a 203 to part time with the case in the rig no problem. all you remove is the tailshaft.

i was checking the length of the 205. seems it is about 3 inches shorter than the 203. any one with any info on driveshaft lengths?
