    I know this is a stupid question, but i can't figure it out. How do I get teh tailgate off??? I want to take it off to repaint it and have had no luck.

    Well open it up. Unplug the wiring. Unbolt those two rods going to your frame, careful, they're springs under tension. Then put a prop rod under the gate to take the weight, an old axle shaft was a good height for mine (31" 2" lift). Then undo the straps on the sides. Unbolt the four bolts on each hinge on the gate and get a buddy help you pull it off cause its heavy. To be honest I would gut the thing before taking it off to make it lighter and so you dont have to tape things off. Then put in new weatherstrip and undercoat the insides.
