I want to get all the paint off , por 15 and then krylon it. (tailgate)
Can I use a grinder and wire wheel or is that too harsh for the sheet metal. Or should i stick with a sander?
How do I get the "Chevrolet" thing off, and then back on again? any special glue?

I used a wire wheel (cone shaped brush style) on my 4.5" grinder for the inside of my tailgate. Worked great in getting a ton of old carpet glue and paint off. Definitely wasn't too harsh.

The chrome strip ont he back is held on with little lock nuts. You have to crawl inside and take the plate off (with the window up) and tank the nuts off the back. IF your brave you can roll the window out with the tailgate down and remove the nuts (Have someone there to hold the glass up, you dont have to roll it out all the way).
    Good luck! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Its probley just double sided tape then, I would still take the plate off the inside and look for a couple little lock nuts. All the symbols on the fenders use them, so they might be in the tailgate too. If its individual lettering my guess is tape; If they are are all one piece connected together, it probley has at least three maybe four lock nuts.

Its not tape, there are the same little nuts on the inside of the tailgate that hold it on. I just finished painting the truck and removed and reinstalled a new emblem.
