I tried to lower the tailgate glass and I heard almost a tearing sound. Now I can hear the motor running but the glass doesn't go down... Any thoughts?

Best thing to do would be to crawl back there and pull the access panel and have a look see.

Phillips screwdriver, there is a bunch of screws going around the edge of the panel.

Typically, yes, you can fix it........to get the glass to come down so you can lay the tailgate down flat and look, unscrew the cable from the motor, put the cable in the chuck of a drill motor and start the drill, the glass will lower /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Well I can't put the tailgate down for fear that it will just fall off. Kinda rusty around the hinges..... So I hope that it can be fixed with the tailgate and glass up....

If it is just the cable, you can do that with the window stuck up. if the rail at the bottom of window is as rusty as the tailgate sounds to be,(since it won't open) you might not be able to fix.

Its not that the tailgate is rusty... Its the hinges where they connect to the body. When I try and put the tail gate down they don't move but look like there gonna break off at the body mount area....
