    has anyone mounted a tailgate from a pickup onto a Blazer/ Jimmy? If so what was involved in doing it? Any info will help Thanks....Jon

    Yes, Jon. I did it to mine. It was by far the easiest modification I've done to mine. The only problem I came across was trying to get the old tailgate off. It wasn't hard, just time consuming. Especially since I did it by myself. You will find that it is a direct bolt-on. There are supposed to be 2 different types of tailgate latches if memory serves. I found a donor truck around the same year as my K5 (a '79), and it was very easy to put on. If you have any questions, email me and I will be more than happy to assist.     Be careful with this, I found that I needed the seals on the tailgate to help keep fumes out. The truck gate also seemed to rattle more. That and the fact that weight wasn't much different and the blazer gate was green led me to put the blazer gate back on. I did get rid of the window and drive parts though.
    Otherwise, it's a total bolt on. Make sure you keep ALL of the hardware from the donor truck.
