Tell me: Is there any difference between 1st gen blazer and 68-72 pickup tailgates?

My original tailgate has a few rust holes on the lower interior side, and I'm going to replace it with another tail gate I have. After carrying the replacement gate around, it just seems to be heavier.......

    Just wondering.

I believe they are the same, just add the lip to the pickup tailgate where the hatch seals to.

I put a pickup gate on mine, didn't even move the lip over yet. Had the pick up gate from a PU I cut up. The gate was one of the few body parts that wasn't eaten up with rust on that K20. Took off anything I thought I might need someday.

Does it seem like you will need the lip? I got rid of my old tailgate, and forgot that I needed the lip for the hatch, but a replacement is expensive!!

Yes, that's what seals the hard top hatch to the tail gate against exhaust fumes.

If you run 100% topless, than you may as well forget about it.

Finding a used replacement won't be that tough.

Yep mine has a pickup gate on it. I did have to use a little persuasion on the tabs that go into the body they were a little tight on the replacement.

Nobody ever answered! Does anyone know where to get one of these without giving up a limb or first born child?

Thanks. Has anyone ever made one of these? It looks like a fairly simple piece to fabricate? Though it is only a finger rather than a limb, I have spent a ton of money on my project, and would like to save wherever I can. Any used ones out there?

Yeah I'm actually having a hard time imagining how a thin tin strip will stop the fumes and not squeak?

The strip is just for the rubber seal on the hatch to seal against. I haven't put the lip back on and don't notice much extra fumes. It leaks more from other spots.
