At 3:00 this afternoon, work begins on my latest tattoo. It's the word "PERSEVERANCE" from shoulder to shoulder across my chest. That'll be stage 1. Stage 2 (when I have more money) will be crossed sledge hammers below the word, with a banner wrapped around them with the words "Pride, Faith, Respect, Today, Tommorrow, Forever" on it. This tattoo holds a lot of significance for me, revolving around my struggles to overcome the many obstacles and oppostition I have faced over the past decade of my life. I have been drug-free since January of 1998, and totally clean and sober (took awhile to give up the booze) since February of this year. I've lost friends and family to drugs and disease, struggled to find myself throughout all of this. This year has been a defining year for me as far as my own identity and self-worth and now that I have chosen a path, I have decided to get a new tattoo to always remind me of my struggles and the fight to succeed in spite of them. Yes, I kick ass.
