hack it up and put a fuel cell in, that should fix the whole problem, LOl, MAD MAZ and laketex both have em for sale...laketex is only asking like $3500 or something for his and it comes with a free blazer.

I figured out what happened...when we took the tank out we used a floor jack to supposrt it, and my friend thought we could just take the tension off the straps that hold the tank up if we used a floor jack. Floor jack was too short so we put a dog's water bowl on top of it and it worked great, except it bent the bottom of the tank up, broke the plastic baffle inside and bent the pickup that the fuel pump is mounted to at a 45 degree angle, making it look really wierd. Got it bent back, but lost a rubber insulator, made a new one out of an my old fuel filler hose...if autozone sold 5/8 fuel lines it would probaby be running now because the return line doesn't fit anymore, so gotta wait for napa to open tomorrow

Re: TBI fuel pump and sending unit diagrams

Yeah i know...some of my old posts are pretty worthless though
no, didn't break anything, the bracket that hold the pump got bent really far away from the little hose on top of the pump and it wasn't making sense going back together like that...took it over to a mechanic friend and he set me straight, got it bent back, should work now...i realized the dog bowl messed it up while putting it back in and the tank was bending again, so hopelfully i didn't bend that thing again...im really considering taking it out and checking since i havent put the skidplate or hitch back in yet

Hard to believe you bent/dented the tank. Was it full? You should cut a hole in the floor next time. Thats what I'm doing if I have to get to it again.

Yeah, i really thought about cutting a hole but since my truck is rust free i didn't want to...i decided to go out there and make sure i didn't bend the pickup again putting it back in...yeah I filled the tank up, drove to get a haircut and then parked it...probably had a little less than 30 gallons in it...most of its gone now, poured some into family's cars i've had to use and paid friends with it for helping me. I didn't want to reuse that gas anyway, its sitting in a trashcan right now

    3 A.M. wrench session determines:
    pickup tube not bent
    its cold outside
    no life

i like the cutting hole idea /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif, but ive heard that you can move a pickup's bed off and back alittle bit /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif, for that, id hate to drop the friggen fuel tank, that'd just be a PITA, but what ever has to be done, gets done, good luck, and i hope it works out /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif.
