Hey gang, here's one for you 205 guru's...
Is there anything differnent on a TH400 version 205 other than the 32 spline input? Does it matter what year it came off? I realize that the output (tailshaft) of the trans is either a round or figure eight. I have a round (late) style trans and an adapter that fits, I just need a t-case to fit. What do you think?

The figure 8 vs Round is the pattern on the adapter output and T-case input. The other difference is the length of the input splines. The figure 8 style uses a short 32 spline and the round pattern uses a long 32 spline input. You can change the input and retap the case but it would cost extra money on top of picking up the tcase, so it's best to get the right one the first time if possible (unless it was cheap/free to start with).

Internally there are different spline counts on the front output of the NP205 as well. The weaker 10 spline front output was used up until the mid 70's. Then they switched over to the 30 spline flange output.
