The wife has been hunting around online for the 'perfect' place to live. So far she is really liking the Boise area. I know we have a few members that live around there so what is it like? We both make our livings being computer greeks, are ther any good tech jobs in the area? What is the overal weather like? How available and reasoble priced is land in the area?

    Thanks for the info..

I'd like to live in Boise... bet there is some kick ass wheeling out there... and I wouldn't have to deal with bands of thugs during my commute every day either.

ps: no matter what anyone tells you, do NOT move to Portland, OR. It ****in' blows.

    little-known facts:

    1) Oregon actually grows more potatoes

    2) Idaho is the "Gem State"... not the Potatoe State.

So with Jek's spelling of potato, and Dan Quayles misspelling of the plural of potato, how is it really spelt? Potato's or potatoes? :doah: :haha:

Boise has no trees! Go to North Idaho or Eastern Washington and you will never want to leave. That is until you visit Alaska!

What are you talking aboot (!) :eek1: ?!!

Loosely translated Boise mean 'City of trees'. Boise, ID has a forest of trees.

Are you sure you're not mistaking my city for Boise City, OK :D ?! (yes, a real city :wink1: )

Sorry CDA. Having been raised in the heavily forested parts of the pacific NW, I am spoiled when it come to trees. I lived in North ID for 11 years and never met anyone who came from Boise who went back willingly. I have not spent meaningful time there but am sure it is wonderful for some people.
And I'm sure you know that in North Idaho CDA (as in CDA 455) is short for Coeur d'Alene. I have often thought that this would make you partial to that part of the state.

    Oui, Oui :D !!

    Good point regarding the trees.

Northern ID is beautiful country, very heavily forested. Where in ID did you live?

How'd you end up in AK?

Moved with my folks in '84 from Lake Oswego, OR (near Portland) to Anchorage. Met and married my wife and moved to Post Falls, ID in '92. Moved back to Anchorage in '03. We absolutely love both places but can only live in one place. There are lots of holes in that timeline, but that's basically it.
