It is a ways off, but I like to plan things early. Next summer, probably late July, I plan to bring my girlfriend and the kids to Colorado for some backcountry fun. I spent lots of time backpacking the fourteeners as a kid and am looking forward to driving some. Plus, my g/f and the kids have never seen real mountains.

Anyway, I will be driving from Dallas and plan to do some fun, fairly simple trails that have beautiful scenery and offer some get-away-from-it-all kind of fun and peaceful camping. We aren't going to do anything too agreesive as I don't want to break that far from home and my rig isn't built for rocks (1/2 ton drivetrain). I expect us to spend a week or 10 days from home. Probably 3-5 days on the trails.

So, I know it is a long way off, but would anyone be interested in joining us for a nice relaxing time? If you are from down here, we can caravan. If you are local Colorado, we can always meet up somewhere or on the trail. I don't know which ones we will take yet as we are still planning. But, would anyone be interested?

Yeah, I'm Colorado local, HOWEVER, I don't even know what I'm going to be doing in January, much less by summer.

Things just happen way too fast these days, and hopefully I'll even be gainfully employed by then, who knows.

Check out the info at http://mhjc.org/all4fun.htm. The trails around Silverton are mostly pretty tame, but the scenery is just incredible. All-4-Fun is a week long event, with organized trail rides every day but Wednesday. It's always a blast and you can select trails based on your experience and vehicle ability. I think it's the most scenic part of the state. [IMG]
