I changed my '77 TG from manual to power and I'm having a problem with the cable. I got the motor bracket from a JY and the motor and cable from GM. I mounted the bracket where I thought that it belonged near the inside release handle and ran the cable down and under the TG glass and then up to the regulator transmission. The problem that I'm having is that the metal strip holding the glass rubs on the cable near the bottom of its travel and looks like it will eventually kill the drive cable. Do I have everything mounted correctly? Does anyone have pics of how this should be set up? or the correct length of the cable??
    Thanks,
    Mike

It sounds like you've got it set up right. i think that as long as the sash (metal strip) isn't trying to gouge the cable you should be fine. i think that mine hits the cable when it's down also. but i haven't had to have my tailgate apart since i put my new one on last year.

Thanks for the response! I couldn't see any other way to do this but it didn't seem right to have the sash rub the cable. I guess I'll see how long this holds up or maybe eventually get a peek inside a working TG.
