Id say it depends on your driving style. If youre hard on it, you can break anything. Im gonna be running a stock 454 with a 700r4. The th350 should hold up if youre easy with the skinny pedal.

Is the 350 bone stock? Keep in mind auto's are designed to fail (clutch material wears every shift). Even a good tranny will fail behind a 6 cylinder after enought shifts. A 454 will generally speed that process along (especially if the tranny is at the end of the line to begin with). Same with a manual clutch (except that doesn't require a tranny teardown). As with manual clutches, there are all different types and qualities of th350 internals. Good internals (clutches, steels, bands, and sprags) will live long behind a 454, and if you want to be stupid with the skinny pedal, they offer harder input/output shafts, sungears, reaction shells, etc. to make it last. There are mud trucks here that run blown BBC's and run 350's (most are manual valve bodies, but there are a few full autos).

Seems like when I had the 400 swapped into my 350 with a 203 they swapped output shaft, adapter, and clutches from the 350 into the 400. 400 was out of car and 350 tranny was from truck. Is this possible. I didnt do the work other than helping bolt it back in.
