Yep, it was used widely in motorhomes.
Its the same thing as a TH400, but the differences are the planetary gears. The 475 has straight cut gears compared to the angled cut on the 400. The straight cut ones are much stronger than the angled cut ones.

The NV4500 is what I am planning on putting in. There is a few people who have them. Do a search on them. If you ask me they are great for getting the best of both worlds. You get overdrive and a granny gear.

When all else fails... Check the blinker fluid.

It's pretty much the same thing as a TH400 (same case, just stronger guts like the other post said). Seems like I've seen those things with a disk tranny brake too. I wonder if it could be adapted to use as a parking brake on a 4WD? Probably not since it would need to be moved to the tcase but, it would be sweet with a divorced case.

Hmm, visions of a FI Pontiac 455 with a TH475 (475 guts in a Pont. TH400 case) using the tranny disk and a divorced 205...

the th475 also came in some C 60 trucks and some earlier diesel applications. Very strong.

A 475 will work in any thing you can put a 400 in. When I bought mine it had a big drum brake hanging off the back of it. The trans shop had to change the out put shaft. I put it in my wifes 2500 4x4 Burben. The straight cut first gear whines alittle, but it has been a great trans.
