    That\'s it!! I had it!

I might be selling the K5. It comes down to I just can't afford to keep it running anymore! It needs a new Torque Converter, and maybe a tranny rebuild (most likely) which would be the range of about $1,000. Then I need to get the cross member fixed at a frame shop. I just wanna drive (or even push) this fawkin K5 in the creek, and set it on FIRE!
    FFFFFFFAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: That\'s it!! I had it!

    That sucks!
I just completed a tranny rebuild with a new t-coverter. The hole thing ran me around $515 but I had to buy a new case because mine was cracked by the exploded internals. The full rebuild kits run around $125 and you can pick up a stock torque converter for around $80. Schucks had the 4wd TH 350s for around $550 if you prefer not to rebuild it yourself. It takes a lot of time but you can do it yourself.

Don't know what to say about the cross member.

Dude, your on CRACK! I'm disappointed in you eric.
You better not give up you pussy.
Just let the blazer sit until you got enough money.
Or sell it to Greg, and then get the hell outta here. /forums/images/icons/mad.gif /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Because of my water pump now i'm looking at throwing like $1500 into my camaro to get it running again, better than ever...
And the blazer needs a bunch of stuff too.
Just take it one day at a time man, don't get rid of it you crazy a$$.
I'll help ya with whatever i can. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

Dude my tranny cost me 680 including labor and new parts that were needed. If i had pulled it myself it would have only been like 400.00. The rebuild came with a 18 month unlimited mileage warranty also. Do what others said about the crossmember and put bolts in it! Quit being a wimp! haha.

DUDE DO NOT GET RID OF IT!

We can take the Trany out of it and take it to a place in Livermore for $800.00 and put it back in.
That includes a rebuilt converter and all 86 (I think thats the yr. that GM got smart) parts and what ever need replacing.
I have a spair Cross member if you need one. Let me know.

Junk yard tranny for a k5 with torque converter if you pull it yourself is around $150.. might be just the ticket to scrape you by.

Don't sell it...convert to a 4 speed and never have a tranny problem again. It'll cost less than a rebuilt 700 grenade box, and be bullet-proof!

If you sell it like it is you'll lose a ton of money, even if you got a good price you'll kick yourself for selling it later...

I am not gonna sell it...it's just frustrating working, and spending so much dough on it. Then it turns around and kicks you in the balls with steel tip cowboy boots!

    Just think,

You could be paying 500/month for a car payment. On a car that does not nearly has the class and looks and functionality of the K5.

Fixing an old vehicle is cheaper than a new one. Insurance/price of parts and labor at the dealer... etc.

I too get frustrated at times, but there is always a bright side /forums/images/icons/smile.gif .

Yeah, its funny to see people look at you when you push it up into super low and she grinds if you're not at a dead stop. I have one in my '83 C15 shortbox with a 330hp vortec topped motor, I think I would have pooched the tranny by now if it was a 700r4.

So what would be some options? Rebuild what I got or look for something else? It's a 700r4

What you need is a second car or bike as a daily driver so you don't abuse your K5. It happens to all of us, I keep pourin MONEY into the endless pit and never see the light but its all worth it! this is my third rig not including my Heep Mangler! I probably could have retired by now if I didn't spend it all on the K5's! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
