The 454 in my K5 has finally roared to life after sitting in my garage far too long!!

The specs are an '89 454, Howell TBI, bored .030, mildly ported heads, 9.5:1 KB pistons, balanced, headers and a 4x4 comp cam with 210/218@.050 with .505 lift.

I'm not sure that my neighbors appreciate it though. It has a real sharp bark out the 2.5" pipes even with large dynamax mufflers. I just need to finish the driveline, steering, body, winch, air comp,................

I just needed to get this out, thanks for listening.

    I'm working on it!!!

my past job kept me travelling a lot. My new job does not /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Now I have time to work on it and not spend a week figuring out what I was up to last time.

I do have a minor oil leak to fix as a fitting on the cooler is leaking a drop every so often. I'm also trying to figure out if I have avacuum leak as the motor is making 11" of vacuum at 6,500 feet. It is progress though

Sweet! I know you've got to be happy to finally have it running. When can we expect the burnout video? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The first burnout was Saturday in my driveway. I "slipped" on the clutch and the rear tires lit off pretty well. The wife was not amused.....

My wife gets it. She always tells me to light up the tires in the TA. I gladly take her up on it, get it sideways, and watch her grin. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wives really need to get a sense of humor about these "boy" things. Mine was pretty good though with the initial startup. She ran it at 2k RPMs for a half hour to run the cam in. It got pretty smokey in the garage (yes the doors and window were open). She just covered her ears a lot as I scurried about looking for leaks, fire etc. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif
