Doe's Anyone have, or used one of the Lightweight, Gear Reduction Starters, on a Big Block?

The reason I'm asking is I have the old O.E.M. Starter on the 454, and with the Heat now in the N.W. I'm having the Hot Soak, Heat Stroke Effect on the Starter.

Just wondering if the Mini, Gear Reducted, are any Better?

    Thank's in Advance, Don H. /forums/images/icons/confused.gif

Have you tried the remote solenoid yet? That usually helps about 75% of the problem...it works well enough for mine anywyas and my truck would barely turn over when hot before.

Summit sells the solenoid kit for 30-40 bucks...

Just use a remote solenoid!! Just get a Ford style solenoid and kiss the heat soak problems good bye! I did it and have never had a problem since! I got my kit from a place called M.A.D. Enterprises, was like $30...add in the cost for some quality 1/0 cables and you're set! I use a stock starter, no need for any expensive stuff in my case...
