the elusive \'old body style\' extracab...

I think that one looks terrible, but I've seen some good examples personally at the 4wd show we had here in August.

I have thought about making an extended cab, but I decided that a crewcab shortbox single wheel would be both easier and better looking.

Was that even a factory truck or was it a aftermarket deal? I have never run acorrs one of those. It looks like a long bed frame with a short bed box then a addition to the cab. I know Ford offered a extended cab back as far as the mid 70's that was factory but never saw a GM extended before.

yeah, when i said sweet paint job that was in extreme sarcasm. i don't know what they were thinking back then. i'm sure some day we'll look back and go, man, look at those 2000 paint schemes, what were we thinkin?!

it's been talked about on here before and i think it would be cool to have a crew cab on a blazer frame. but there are some lenght issues- the rear doors would have to be radiused (?) to clear the rear tires. still would be cool to have a 4 door, short wheel base k5.

They were aftermarket conversions sold through dealers, like the ChooChoo customs or Cowboy Cadillacs. I've got an uncle that had one, and it was beautiful workmanship - all steel with bigger windows than the one in the pics.

Yeah that's what I was guessing. I got to tour CHoo Choo a few years back. They do some nice conversions. They had some wild beds they were dropping on S trucks when I got the tour. It was a fiberglass bed with corvette style tail lights. It was the predessor to the X-tremetruck you can now buy.

Some guy over at Chevytalk.com has one that GM sent straight from the factory to be converted. It's pretty sharp. It has about a 7' box on it because they started with a longbox and shortened the box. So it's not really a longbox or a shortbox, but it's cool.

I have never seen the square body style extended cab,....but I did see a 70' 2wd lowered ext-cab at a show once in Mena, Arkansas. Then also the same truck at the biggest truck show in the world at Dallas in 95' (EXPO 95') wish I had a few pics of that to show you guys!! really looked nice with the rounded curves!

man that is one ugly truck. I saw one in a petersons several years ago. it was extreamly nice. Yellow in color and big windows out of a 96 or so extended cab chevy. i also seem to remember that it had one piece front door windows that were custom. the whole dash was out a a 96-up chevy 3/4 ton too. i wish i could find that issue. Man that was a sweet truck!

I have a friend who has a factory built extended cab. It was a special order from the factory but they used to do it.

I just saw an old body stlye extended cab driving down the freeway two days ago. It had bigger windows then the one in the pic and it even had a built in spoiler. It was pretty cool looking.
