I got home at 12:45 this morning and got out of bed at 5:30, went and picked up the littlest pig I've ever seen, 50 lbs. got it going around 7:30 good and it's dripping nicely now!!! we're going to have some eastern NC BBQ today boys! :saweet: :saweet: :saweet: it's 10:30 now and things are looking good.

the beers on ice and just have to wait till everyone leaves. going to get blistered!!

OBTW, Saturday was my kid brother's birthday, he's 22 now :D and that's why we're cooking BBQ.

Sorry to interupt the BBQ... but I don't think I could raise an animal just to kill... I'd get too attached :frown1:

At first I thought you were picking up a new pet ... but then I kept reading

You gotta excuse us city boys .... if we knew where half of the food we ate came from, we'd probably stop eating and starve!!

Have a good BBQ. We did the pig thing in Hawaii years ago, I forgot exactly how they cooked it, buried it in the ground or in hot coals or something like that ... anyways, it was good!

We used to buy one, kill it and have a pig roast once a year. Nothing like it at all. Even a city boy would do it after tasting that. :D

mmmmm, that sounds very good, wish I was closer :D

Growing up as a farm kid you learn early on that animals are there for one reason, and it ain't to be your friend :D I had 4-H animals from the age of 9 to 18, spent alot of time with them and we ate most of them. It's just reality. We've raised pigs, turkeys, chickens and cattle over the years, still raise about 500 head a feeder cattle every year. Nothing better tasting than home raised critters.... :saweet:

What is the chunk of meat at the top of the grill with the "little pig"?

What's really sad is I'll be having a Safeway salad for dinner tonight :(
