not sure if its going to have to be replaced but we will see. It started having a really crappy display. Very pixelated and almost like it was displaying a 1/3 the resolution it should have been. So I figured it was the Cable. Through in a DVD, sure enough it was there too. While messing with the settings on the TV the whole thing got a really red tone to it. Now anything that should be displayed as black is this ugly red. And all colors hav ea slight red tone to them. Philips says one of their repair shops will have to look at it, they gave me a number to a local one but its a fax number so I have to call back and get a good number for the place.

nope, "recharging a plasma tv" is not actually possible. Its a lie the guys at BestBuy like to tell people to sell them a service plan. LCD projection tvs need their bulbs changed every year or so, Plasma should last straight through. Ours is above a fireplace that is heavily used(which I have yelled at my dad about many many times), so that may have well contributed to the problem. It has overheated a few times since we've had it. But it usually just turns itself off when its hot. I need to put some PC fans on a DC converter and moves some air around it and we need to stop using the fireplace so much(actually its a wood stove that is an in wall unit so it kicks out some heat).

and yes we've only had it about a month or two. we got it the week before the superbowl.

Yeah it's something like their only good for 3-5 years depending on how much use it gets and then the quality begins to detereorate. But his is brand new.

wouldn't the warranty cover it. Instead of getting it fixed I'd go for a whole new one.

make sure you either take it in, or move it before the service guy come to look at it...

yeah planning on taking it in, I'm sure they'd void the warranty over the heat issue.

instead of setting up dc fans off a converter I would get some 4" 110v ac fans and set those up, they are a little louder but have a helluva lot more cfm. Sunon makes some nice ones, I put them in a server case and they dropped the temp almost 20 degrees.

this is why LCD owns. You might lose some pixels, but LCDs should last a hella long time...
