because our FAWKING tree is TOO BIG for the damned stand..and me in my infinite wisdom, instead of going and buying another stand, has started hacking on the base of the tree with a hatchet... /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

I'd chop it down some also. BTW, I hate how much Christmas cost, not too mention all the idiots fighting over crap at the stores.

thats what my family did... waited until after xmas one year and then went shopping, found a HUGE fake tree that can be configured to be a nice 8' tree or a monster 15' tree, depending on what ya want. works pretty well, and at them after x-mas close outs, christmas stuff like this is dirt cheap. If you're the type of person that buys a tree from someone every year, the fake tree can definitely save ya big $ in the long run.

well ya know, moms just a little stubborn (see stupid) when it comes to the christmas tree...i talked her into a fake tree one year..the cats destroyed it.. so now its back to real trees, i like real trees, just not the setup and mess involved..sure as hell not the cost..

Christmas is what you make of it. Chunk your tree out or be smarter in your selection next time. You don't have to have a tree to celebrate christmas. However, if I were you, I'd STFU and find a better stand. I've got one that's a tapered spike...drill a 3/8" hole in the base and hammer it onto the tree. Takes any size.

We use to buy real, then bought a 6foot fake tree, when we moved our family room has 12foot ceilings so we bought a 10footer. Once year the folks wanted it in the kitchen by the french doors so it got chopped down to 7foot then the next year 6 foot. Last year dad bought a 4 foot fiber optic tree. Pull it out of the box, spread the limbs down, wrap two pieces of garland and plug it in! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif the 15minute setup. We quit wrapping presents too. We all know what we are getting each other (so there are no, ahhhh thanks but you didn't get the one I wanted, can I return this hard feelings at the holidays /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif). We buy a few gifts and hide them for Christmas day but for the most part we buy each other tools and stuff we need want.
4 second quicktime video fo the fiber optic lights going
