I saw the tail end of the "Red Green" show on a PBS station late saturday night!--I used to watch it all the time, but it dissapeared from the Boston PBS channel a few years ago..led me to wonder if the guy had died??--or did the show get cancelled??...I think they were looking for donations, and they ran a few episodes of the show..first time I've seen it in a few years!...

I thought it strange that they dropped the show here,it was quite popular, and the guy (is Red Green his real name?) was a big supporter of public television,he was always on the fund raising drives ...

    So--anyone know??...:ears:

Steve Smith was a really cool guy. I worked @ the Sobeys in Ancaster for a year or so in the meat dept. I cut T-Bones for him all the time.

and yeah the show is still on tv. Its pretty canadian, so it might be harder to find in the US.

My favorite was when he took a cadillac, ladder and a garbage can and turned it into a backhoe.:haha: I loved that show, even got the coffee mug with "Carpe Ductum" on it.

    I like his inventions... :)

One show I got a laugh out of was the one where he takes an old Ford Granada (I think),and makes it into a tow truck,by using an old boat trailer as the "tow dolly"...he jams the boat trailer under the front of his "dead" van, then uses the winch on it to pull the tounge down onto the trailer ball,by hooking the cable to the Fords bumper, lifting the front of the van in the process!..then he duct tapes everything in a junk pile onto the trunk lid,to keep the rear end on the ground!...and drives away!..

Another show he teaches you how to get your car out of a parking space, when a car in front and in back of you pulled up too close!--he used an old bumper jack and a space saver spare tire, and cuts a hole in the floor of the K-car wagon he had,and makes the jack pick up the car from the center of the floor, and he rotates it 90 degrees by hand!...

The skits with the other guy "Bill" are funny too..poor guy always gets his cahonies kicked in somehow!..reminds me of Benny Hill!.

    "I'm A Man..and I can change...if I have too..I guess"....
"If The women dont find you handsome,at least they can find your handy!"
" Hang In There...I'm Pulling For Ya"!...

The "new" ones I've seen on Dish network didn't have "Bill" in them and lacked a lot of the style of the older ones. IMO!

That was GREAT show. I have a couple episodes on tape somewhere. My favorite has got to be the gullwing doors on the Ford Granada using the neighbor's garage door opener that Red claims he got "while they were out".

The other one I have is where Red replaces the headlight on the same Ford Granada. When he is foiled by the skills needed to remove the old bulb I think he just torches it or sawzalls it out and finishes off the job with "the handyman's secret weapon, duct tape."

"If the women don't find you handsome, they'll at least find you handy!"

what, you guys mean that we shouldn't do those things? I thought that show was a "how to" kinda like Bob Villa. Now what do I do with all that duct tape...and the Ford Granada?
