there's nothing like the smell of burnt nitro methane and burned rubber! oh yeah, and the feeling of the earth shaking as 3500 lbs of car hurls itself down the 1/4 mile in 4 seconds /forums/images/graemlins/weld.gif /forums/images/graemlins/weld.gif /forums/images/graemlins/weld.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

This car was probably one of the most winning Funny Cars during the 70's. Once again due to the tuning expertise of Austin Coil...just like he does for John Force today.

When I was about 7 or 8 years old, my dad had taken me to dragway 42 in salem OH.. we were walking thru the pits, and lo and behold, I see the "mongoose" funny car sitting there with the body up, and the crew working on it... I had the hot wheels snake & mongoose set, so I knew what I was looking at, so I ran up to the car and just about jumped out of my skin I was so excited.. one of the crew guys called me over, handed me a rag, and let me "polish" one of the rear wheels. that was cool.

A few years ago, my dad got to meet don garlits at a super summit show. He hung out for about an hour at our camaro clubs tent and just bs'd with everyone. he's a real down to earth dude.

Y'know, I don't think some people need a reason to pull this crap.. they're just natural d**kheads who like attention.
