Just saw this movie last night and...damn. I believe it is my new favorite. I also did a little research into the life of Bert Munro and from what I have read I have been thoroughly impressed. Did anyone else get as much out of this movie as I did?

I just bought this movie on DVD and watched it last night......never saw it before, so I took a chance that I'd like it by buying it outright.

    It was GREAT!

I see a lot of myself and my own behaviors in Burt's character.... I suppose many of us do. He had a very narrow focus and everything in his life revolved around the support of his passion. I loved that his house was a simple cinderblock workshop in a neighborhood of larger, conventional homes. He slept on a cot in the shop and couldn't care less about it.

He made his own parts out of necessity, and he wasn't afraid to dream BIG. His adventures on the way to the U.S. reminded me of my own (mis)adventures driving across the country a few times....you certainly meet interesting people, and surprisingly there ARE folks in the world who can appreciate what you are doing and can offer support when you need it most.

The entire part of the movie that took place at Bonneville was awesome. I loved how the other SpeedWeek competitors ended up really liking Burt so much and helped him get registered so he could make a full-speed pass down the salt.

Great movie! I might have to watch it again soon.... :thumb:

I watched that movie several months ago and it was a great movie. I also searched up on the guy afterwards and just thought to myself, WOW.

there is a theather that plays some indie flicks between my commuter-train stop and my workplace. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known either! It definitely didn't have a massive studio ad campaign or anything.

yeah Lecter is one of the best characters in the history of film. Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon both flippin rocked.
