I don't know if you guys read Car Craft (shame on you if you don't) but the editor Matt King is a riot! You guys have to read the July issue's editorial. He writes about things he loves and hates about old cars. Some of the things here are direct quotes from his editorial and some have been modified to conform to our trucks. My apologies to Matt King but here goes...

I hate it when an "easy bolt-on" doesn't even come close.

I hate that my girlfriend still doesn't understand why I drag one wreck after another home on a trailer.

I like the way old trucks were built, with real headliners, cloth seat covers, and interiors with more metal than plastic.

I hate not having a heater or A/C on my old truck.

I like trucks that are so simple you can fix almost anything with zip ties and duct tape.

I like that old trucks have personality.

I hate that most new trucks look the same.

I like being able to see the ground when I open the hood.

I hate getting 8 miles to the gallon with $2.00-per-gallon 92-octane.

I like getting the "thumbs-up" when driving in my old truck.

I like that I can buy 5 cool old trucks for what most people shell out in a year or lease payments on a new Honda.

I hate that if I sell them I'll get less than I paid.

I hate having to worry that some cell-phone-babbling idiot will run me off the road.

I like old trucks that are built in unusual ways.

I hate seeing the same new trucks being built the same old way.

I hate the smell of 30-year-old gear lube anytime.

I like getting grease on my hands working on my truck.

I HATE THAT SOME PEOPLE THINK THAT MEANS I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT!!!

I like finding parts I really need at the junkyard.

I hate when someone else finds them first.

I like being a member of the coolest truck site on the net.

I hate that I'm writing this instead of wrenching on my truck.

Sorry for the long post, I hope you guys enjoy these. What are some of your LOVES/HATES?

I agree with all except the wrenching on the truck. I'm sick of working on mine. I spend more time working on it than driving it.

I agree with you on that one too, Tim. There are times when I'm under there thinking to myself, "Why in the heck do I have to like old cars & trucks?!"

I would worry that I would accidentally run over some idiot talking on their cell phone. That and I hate when you spend the day hunting down squeeks and rattles only to discover you missed one...behind the dash.

You have absolutely no idea how bad it's been for me, Tex. I'm on my 3rd set of axles in one year!
