Wanted one for a while, discovered a latin phrase recently that I really like.

Amor Vincit Omnia or Omnia Vincit Amor (translation determines the order) means love conquers all. Probably across my shoulder's, although I've heard that if it runs over the shoulder blades it hurts like a bitch. (not a pussy, just my first tattoo)

Come up with a couple different texts I'm interested in. Looking for something gothic or script that doesn't scream "I'm a mexican gangbanger" or "hold my turban and watch this ****".

The three current front runners, all different styles, and I like them all.

    http://www.dafont.com/search.php?text=Omnia+vincit+Amor&psize=m&q=gabrielle

    http://www.dafont.com/font.php?file...r+Vincit+Omnia&nb_ppp=10&psize=m&classt=alpha

Not sure precisely what I want yet, any thoughts for a newbie?

Print off each one in the size you would like the tat then take it to your local tat parlor and have them give you any tips about which will work better.

see, I'm not a fan of mixing styles, phrases, and themes. Like last time I was getting work done, a guy showed up with a picture of a Jewish scroll as reference of what he wanted with his Christian piece... Try and find something a little more period to latin I'd say. What that means? I don't really know, ha. Search out some old church scripts I'd say.

Shoulder blades aren't fun, spine isn't great either. But overall I'd say they aren't that bad in comparison to other spots. My first piece went across my spine, shoulder blades, and neck.

I thought of that too, but all of the latinish font I can find is pretty plain IMHO. I want something with a little detail to it. :o

haha. yea everyone always told me the inside of the arm sucked... then I got mine, really wasn't bad at all. Elbow sucked pretty bad though. Elbow and Ribs are the 2 worst I think I've found so far.

I gotta agree with Sled. Its not lame to mix the scripts, but I would try to stay true to it also. You could always get the artist to see what he can do for shadowing if it looks to plain.

I say go for the tat if that really means something to you. Dont be like me and get a tribal band as your first im 17 and cool tattoo... :haha:

after reading this thread so far, this is where I would have to agree the most. But, mostly cause I have a hard enough time budgeting in the need for truck parts the way it is.:o

I got a tat on my upper arm in the fall. I got something that meant alot to me. I dont regret it and I doubght I will... Ill post a pic later but its the number 67 (The number my buddy was riding with when he got hurt, and the number I now ride with) and above that it says never regret...

Being it is what it is, and the phrase, if I did regret it, it would be quite ironic:crazy::haha:

It does mean a lot to me. It's a long story but trust me, I wouldn't be thinking about it if it was just a saying that I found and liked.

I'll stop by the shop that my friend's go to the next time that I'm home and see if they can do anything to make latin style lettering a little more detailed.
