im thinking about upgrading to a np 241 from a 208. they are a direct bolt in correct? how much could i get one from a 700r4 for?

when the tranny went out i drained about 1/2 quart out of the t/c and there was a few metalic filings in the bottom. turns out the front output seal was trashed. its holding up but i don't know how much longer it going to last.

I believe that they are a direct bolt in. The yards around here want like $500 for them. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

You wan't an 89' np241 because it still has a mechanical speedo. You have an 83' correct? Make sure the splines are the same. They are on my 85 when my 208 was swapped for an 89' 241 but I thought they changed the spline count in 84 1/2' but that may have only been the input shaft.

spline counts would depoend son tranny it is behind though, i think all they had after 80 were 27 and 32 spline, but different lengths of the 32 spline, at least one for 465 and at least one for 400, and dunno what for 3500 and such
i need to find out same info also, wonder if an 89 241 exists for use with long 32 spline 465

apparently 241 are same length as 208 ? both slip style rear output and everything i guess, crossmember mounting i wonder about also.

what about converting a 90-up 241 to speedo cable style output ? cant swap ? you can do it with 4L60E/700r4 i know

    good luck
