This might be a stupid question, but....

How hard would it be to swap a 6.5 diesel into a 1990 Suburban with 6.2 diesel? As far as I know the 6.5 is mechanically injected.

The 6.2L and 6.5L blocks are virtually identical on the exterior, meaning it would be a direct drop-in bolt-in deal. If you've found a used 6.5L turbo diesel, then the turbo assembly will hit the a/c box in the older style truck. If it's an n/a 6.5L, then it will bolt right up with no problems whatsoever.

It would be just like swapping a 6.2L for another 6.2L.
