hi all im selling a psp for 140.00. I listed it on CL too and this is a response I got.

    Thanks for the Reply,
I am fully okay and satisfied with the
condition of the item and requiring the payment, i will be sending you your payment Via (Usps international) .Which is very safe and secure for buyer and seller and for the transaction to proceed.all i need is your original full name and address, phone number and the weight of the item so that i can forward all this informations to Usps for your payment to proceed asap by Usps.
    .
(Note):I know You might have recieved some offers from different buyers regarding the item, but i will like to be the highest bidder and to make the transaction fast and for you to take the poster from craigslist,so for this reason i am offering $220.00 for the item. hope my offer is acceptable.

So kindly try send me all the informations i need for the payment to proceed immediately by Usps.. you will receive a confirmation e-mail from Usps about your payment once it is approved, and i will receive the confirmation mail as well too,as for the shipping i will handle it at my own cost by sending you a fedex pre-paid slips which you will use in shipping the item without paying any shipping cost..Waiting For your immediate response and hope doing business with you ..thank you.

Yup. Something's up, that's for sure.

However, he's offering to send you the payment first, and isn't asking to overpay so you can send him the difference back(the old "stolen check" scam). To be safe, I would give him a P.O. box address, without including your phone #, and see if he changes his tune.

This is a known scam. He'd send you a USPS money order for 1400.00 and then tell you that his secretary made a mistake. He'd tell you to take the original 140 + a little extra for your problems and send him the rest back. But since it's fake you'd get stuck paying out f your own pocket. I think that he's in Africa, and has been doing this for a few years. Just go talk to the Post Office and they will confirm that it's a scam.

He should go ahead and accept the USPS MO and then take it to the PO and let them take care of it. They can trace it back to the other fella and throw him in the hoosegow, right?

sure sounds like an overwritten scam to me... thatk30guy's got a point, isnt a fake usps m/o considered mail fraud? though i doubt they'd travel to africa to prosecute that...

Awhile back someone posted a link to a site where soeone scammed the scammer. The dude was trying to sell an Apple laptop and got a reply similar to yours, so the dude went along and ended up sending a fake cardboard mockup. Whatever site they were on, they had a "brotherhood" similar to here, and ....well, I'll just see if I can find the link..
