I started physical therapy for my ankle on Tuesday morning... The dude gave me a bunch of exercises to do every day and said I stand all wrong...

So not only do I have to torture myself for 5 minutes three times a day, I also have to stand in a way that I've NEVER stood, especially for the last year that my ankle's been bugging me /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

I'm off to get some ice and ibuprofin, I hurt like hell now /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

It's a plot by the insurance companies to get rich... People go to these doctors who say Physical Therapy is what you need... then you go see these people who make your life miserable for a month or two or more and in then end you end up paying out your ass, even with insurance... I think the minimum I'm going to be spending getting my ankle fixed is $120... And that's if my Physical Therapist keeps only wanting to see me once a week instead of the two my doc wanted... plus paying to see the doc last week and next month... then whatever after that... At least I have insurance I guess...

    Long story short:

I hurt my ankle, couldn't walk, went to the ER, the doc said Just a sprain give it two weeks you'll be good as new... I was on crutches, hurt like hell, paid $400 since I didn't have insurance... 2 weeks went by, I could limp around just enough to be able to go back to work so I could make some money to pay the hospital... A few months went by, and I could walk more or less normal... I bought an ankle brace and was able to walk a little better, though there was still pain and discomfort, not to mention no mobility... I bought a super cool $30 ankle brace that I used twice before I became insured about a year and two months after the initial injury... I saw a specialist who said I needed to see a physical therapist because the tendons didn't heal right or some crap... Get to the physical therapist and he has me walk, jump, twists my foot around and generally beats the living crap out of me in the name of figuring out how much work I need to do... Gives me a sheet of these exercises... They only take 5 minutes, not including the hours of extreme pain afterwards... And Ibuprofen and ice only work for so long... Oh and I'm not allowed to use that super cool brace I bought, which is really going to suck in a couple weeks when I have a big bus tour at work (moving at least 30 bags that weigh at least 15 pounds each around the hotel) and I'm also working the Mother's Day buffet...

Oh and I don't stand right... Usually I stand with my feet about shoulder width apart, most of my weight on my right (good) leg and toes pointed out... very comfortable that way... So now this freak gives me a new way to stand... feet about 8 inches apart, toes straight ahead, weight evenly distributed, knee slightly turned, ankle bent in a weird way... it's crazy... I may very well have been better off just wearing a brace and smiling as I thought about my bad ankle... Now I grimace as I think about my bad ankle /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

And to think I WILLINGLY got myself into this mess...
