I know some of you added RACOR fuel filters, I was wondering what you did with the factory box filter and base. Did you just leave it there and by pass it. Did you disconnect the wiring etc. I know the filter base to those have a fuel heater, water sensor and other stuff. What did you do with those.

Reason I ask is because [IMG] You see how I have the TWO filters on the side, the FRAM and Hastings one. I plan to just USE those instead of the box one. is this a good idea or no. I really like to keep things simple.

I removed my old filter and base entirely. The loose wiring harness ends I just taped up and tucked away.

Doesn't the box filter have a small fuel heater and a water in fuel sensor?

Yes it does... So you will have to look for water accumulations in the bowl of the Racor, instead of looking at the light in your dash.

You will lose the fuel heater too... which I was told (by Valley FI) would not be a problem in out South-Western BC climate. Racor does off a fuel-heater add-on that you can get.
