What program do you use? Preferably those of you with DVD burners. I just got mine installed, but I got an OEM one so no software with it.

It depends on what I am burning (music vs movies). I mostly use nero and love it.

    Jo0 guys are funny...

Get DvD Shrink from dvdshrink.com ...

Its free, and the best DVD ripping software I've ever seen... nothing except professional dubbing software comes close. You can burn a dual layer dvd on a single layer burn...

To actually burn it, you need Nero 6 Ultra edition... which you can get from Download.com also for free, but limited... pay for it or do something else to make it work, and you have a home dvd studio... I haevn't bought any movies in the last 6 months because I have Netflix... get a movie, burn it, send it back the next day.

Nero works just as well for CDs, MP3 disks, hard drive backups, and everything else you could want to do with a burning software.

nero blows IMO. For Dvd's, use dvdshrink to shrink them, and dvd decrypter to burn them, they actually work together. Just google search them and it will get you a download, and get you instructions for doing it. For music, i use Roxio.

I like Nero 6 for burning DVD's and Veritas MyCD for burning CD's.

I also use dvd decrytper to rip and then dvd shrink to fit the movie to a dvd size. However, unless you know something I don't (which is soooo totally possible!! lol) you still need a proggy to burn to a dvd.

For CD's on my laptop, I use Windows XP's built-in for data and Windows Media Player for audio.
At home, if I'm making a custom cd, I use Nero.

For DVD's, I use the OEM software on my laptop (very crappy, but I only burn data here, so it works).
On my home desktop, I use either DVD Copy platinum (now banned), or the OEM software that came with the drive for home movies, which is pretty good. I got an HP burner at work a couple years ago, and the video burning software that came with it is pretty good, too.
I think I've used nero to make fairly complex and bootable DVD's, but rarely.

Good thread, I have to check out some of that software. DVDCopy hangs up and can't cut some dvd's.

I don't have a DVD burner, but w/ my CD burner: under Windows I use Nero, under Linux I use the one that's built into the OS.
